The Ignazio Cerio Cadrense Center Museum is located in the heart of the island of Capri overlooking the Piazzetta, inside a 14th century Palace (formerly Palazzo Arcucci). A visit to the Museum allows visitors to embark on a journey into the past of the island of Capri. The more than twenty thousand preserved exhibits were collected by a doctor, Dr. Ignazio Cerio (Giulianova, 1840 - Capri, 1921), in the last decades of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, during his surveys or the result of donations and exchanges with scholars from all over the world.
In the ancient cases, the “Fauna of Quisisana” are preserved, or the remains of bears, panthers and hyenas, dating back to about 250,000 years ago; the oldest traces of human presence, witnessed by the oldest artifacts found at the sites of Quisisana and the Grotta delle Fern; the Emperor Tiberius and his stay in Capri is told through the Classical Archaeology Collection; in the last room of the Museum, waiting for the visitor, will be the blue lizard of the Faraglioni, together with other specimens of the Island.

A Hidden Gem!
This was a little tricky to find … it’s up a set of stairs beside a shop called Nino and Friends, so I had to really search to get to it. But it was absolutely worth the trip! For 4 euros, I had a personally narrated tour through the island’s history, both of fauna and flora, as well as Roman rule. And the view from the terrace is phenomenal. Don’t miss this hidden gem!

So pleased we found this gem
Having had a super day in Capri we found ourselves with an hour to spare before heading back down for the boat - decided to pop in here and SO pleased we did. The small admission fee was well worth it, what an amazing collection of bits and nicely presented in four compact rooms. Met with a friendly welcome and given an A4 info sheet in English which was plenty to understand and see the exhibits for what they were. It closes at 4pm - don’t be too late!

Capri Museo with Lemoncello Bellismo
What a fantastic hidden gem! A medieval castle with a gorgeous panoramic view of the coast. A well spent 5.00 euros with Capri’s lemoncello. An educational experience learning about previous Roman residents. Loved it!

Good way to learn more about Capri
This is a small museum but the exhibits aren't typical and includes the flora and fauna in Capri. I found it interesting but you would be done in 10 minutes and that has some stretch already

Interesting
Only normal place I found in Capri, ineresting artifacts, useful info from staff only Euro 2.50 to get in and it was empty. I guess those who go to Capri are only interested in Shopping or standing in lines..
