Baia Dei Turchi Resort

This hotel confused me . Our four days there are best described as odd.

Firstly the good. The hotel was clean and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The pool is huge and there is shuttle access to an attractive beach where the hotel has chairs and umbrellas for guests ( at a cost which is the norm in Italy). The food in general was quite good.

Now the odd. The hotel is run like a club hotel in some respects but without activities or much evening entertainment. Dinner is included but you choose one of 8 dining locations (I wouldn’t call them restaurants)each of which has its own no choice set menu. For example one area was the terrace of the dining room , another the poolside bar . Fish predominates on all menus. They all felt a bit institutional except for the barbie beside the pool. There was no atmosphere whatsoever as the hotel clientele was very spread out with no obvious gathering point for pre dinner drinks. This was not a feature of this hotel perhaps in part due to the absence of a proper bar and the complex card system used for payment. You buy a card upfront and each purchase warrants a clip of the card to a specific value.

The entire experience was a bit depressing with the lack of atmosphere, dark furnishings and a general air of being in a place that is operating to an outdated formula.
The whole resort could do with an improvement in maintenance and a complete facelift in terms of the offering and the resort. It was not for me and I struggle to account for the amazing reviews.

Found Italy's best kept secret!! As an Australian I would normally choose holidays destinations such as the Greek Islands, Croatia or Cinque terre. Though they are great, I stumbled across the Puglia region in Southern Italy and stayed at Baia Del Turchin resort. It seems all the Italians come here but the rest of the world does not know. It is cheap, classy, and has so much to do. Also, all I can say for the resort is Woowwww! These guys made me feel welcome. The hotel/resort was classy, food was fantastic and different to what you expect from other regions of Italy (Pugliese cusina), and their private beach was easily better than Croatia or Greece. Thankyou so much to all the staff and I look forward to staying at your other hotels.

Fantastic place, and great service level by the staff. From the first minute on, you will feel that everyone is oriented to making you feel the best possible time.

I was travelling for work in Italy, in the amazing region of apulia, but unfortunately (or not) my flight was canceled..I had to wait 2 days in the airport..No Way! So I decided to rent a car and just travelling and discover this amazing location. I was looking for some nice spot to relax myself and to enjoy the Italian's food. I was around otranto and on my way I meet this resort. From outside seems something "normal" but when you are in you enter in another dimension. Seems to be in another age and in some Arabic temple. Really beatiful resort. Unfortunately i spent only two days here but was enough to enjoy everything ..the spa..the swimming pool..and the food. Sorry but the Italian food is so good and here ..more.. with beautiful sea and nice service I completely forgot that my flight was canceled.. a special thanks to my new italian friend Artur, was so gentle to give me some advices about otranto. For sure i will back again for more day. Right now I'm on my flight and I was praying for another issue ..I want to come back right now!!!

Excellent hotel. Reservation was a bit difficult as they only wanted a wire transfer for deposit but it was worth the hassle. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, but it's 10min drive to otranto. Nicely decorated rooms. Huge pool, a shuttle to a beach, great breakfast, excellent service.
