Inside
Vacation in Architectural Monument combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a new future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Heritage Society.
Parking: The public car park is about 150m from the house (in the village on the main road below the church). The car park is free and not covered. Access to the house is not guaranteed. Next to the church, a small footpath and steps lead up through the village to the house.
Public transport: The bus stop is 150 metres from the house. Next to the church, a small footpath and steps lead up through the village to the house.
Number of persons 6: A baby cot (up to 2 years) and a high chair are available. The house is entered from a small footpath that separates the garden from the house. To the left of the entrance there is a cloakroom and to the right the bathroom with shower/WC. Up the stone staircase on the first floor is the fireplace room (unfortunately, for fire safety reasons, lighting the fireplace is not permitted). The fireplace room leads directly into the eat-in kitchen and from the eat-in kitchen directly into the parlour. An arcade runs along the entire front of this floor. Each of the rooms is also accessible from this arcade. Another staircase leads up from the staircase to the 2nd floor. There is also a small toilet on the mezzanine floor. A door on the north side leads from this mezzanine to the rear of the house. On the 2nd floor there are three double bedrooms, which again lead from room to room and are accessible from the outside via the arcade. This is a typical Ticino building style, which is often found in the valley
Outdoor space and garden: Guests have access to a seating area on the west and north sides and a beautiful garden on the south side. The pergolas in front of the house are secured with a balcony railing. The distance between the bars does not comply with current safety regulations, but is nevertheless close enough. There is a small table with two chairs and a bench on the pergola.
Open: Casa Döbeli can be booked from April to October.
Pets: Pets are allowed on request.
WLAN: Not available
Altitude: 800 metres above sea level.
Important to note: Val Onsernone is a very rugged and narrow valley. So are the inhabitants. Lovable but also a little peculiar. Please bear in mind that water is scarce in the valley.
IMPORTANT ADDITION
Casa Döbeli is a listed building that has been renovated with great respect for the existing fabric. The tenant is aware of this and treats the property with care. Although the technical equipment is up-to-date, certain functional details do not meet current standards and harbour a potential source of danger. The tenant is aware of these circumstances. The owner, e-domizil and the foundation Vacation in Architectural Monument disclaim any liability. Casa Döbeli is only accessible on foot. From the public car park there are several steps (about 100 m) leading up to the house.
