Our tropical-styled Beachside Rooms are less than a minute’s casual stroll to the water’s edge of Aroa Lagoon Marine Sanctuary but are not located directly on the beach. Located in The Rarotongan’s 400 and 500 villages, half of the Beachside Rooms are on the ground floor with the other half on the first floor with high vaulted ceilings and high-angle views – but still no taller than a coconut tree! Beachside Rooms can be confirmed as interconnecting at time of booking, which is a real boon for families and family groups holidaying together. 1 California KingDeluxe Beachside Suite
Located beachside on the sands of Aroa Beach, close to the water’s edge (but without a full direct sea view), these Deluxe Suites are light, spacious, modern accommodations with a delightful tropical ambience. All Deluxe Suites are at ground level and feature a whirlpool spa bath, private open-air outdoor shower and a romantic 4-poster master bed. The Deluxe Beachside Suites differ from the Deluxe Beachfront Suites in their aspect to the lagoon, with the Deluxe Beachside Suites being close to the beach but at an angle not affording a full direct sea view.
Deluxe Beachfront Suite
Located on absolute beachfront directly on the white sands of Aroa Beach, with a direct view of Aroa Lagoon Marine Sanctuary, these Deluxe Beachfront Suites are light, spacious, modern accommodations with a delightful tropical ambience and expansive lagoon views. All Deluxe Beachfront Suites are just steps away from the water’s edge, and all are at beach (ground) level. These lovely suites feature a whirlpool spa bath, private open-air outdoor shower and a romantic 4-poster master bed.
Grand Beachfront Suite
The extra-spacious open-plan interior features terracotta tiles throughout, a 4-poster king bed, bathroom with spa bath/shower, private open air shower, full kitchen (with breakfast bar, microwave, stovetop, refrigerator and coffee making facilities), dining and sitting areas with flat-screen TV. The expansive verandah offers excellent indoor-outdoor flow and leads directly onto Aroa Beach. A private upper sundeck features fabulous views.
Honeymoon Pool & Spa Bungalow
The Honeymoon Pool & Spa Bungalow features a unique design with a broad wraparound verandah and a high-pitched thatched roof providing a fabulous sense of space and island romance. Nestled in a completely secluded, lush tropical garden, this is your own private paradise, complete with your own private pool and sauna (for this reason the Honeymoon Pool & Spa Bungalow is not recommended for children and infants who are not competent swimmers). Featuring a King Bed, elegant polished tropical wooden floors, rattan-lined walls, tropical-styled furniture, TV, privately-commissioned lighting laced with black pearl shell, open-air shower, outdoor ‘starlet’ spa bath on the verandah, and spacious bathroom with rain tree vanity top and over-sized double basins, the Honeymoon Pool & Spa Bungalow offers an incredible sense of freedom with spectacular indoor-outdoor flow through four wide openings onto the verandah, and the broad encircling deck means that sun-lovers can follow the sun all day in complete privacy. This wonderfully secluded, romantic bungalow provides easy access to the lagoon via a private gateway tracing a sandy path to the white sand beach and blue lagoon. This is the ultimate honeymoon hide-away.
2-Bedroom Beachside Suite
These suites feature a master bedroom with 4-poster king bed which opens out onto the verandah, a second bedroom with two single beds or two bunk beds, a full kitchen (including microwave, stovetop, refrigerator, tea/coffee making facilities), a tiled bathroom with spa bath/shower, separate toilet, and a sitting and dining room which opens out onto a spacious verandah. The sitting room is equipped with satellite TV, sofa, armchairs, dining table and chairs that can be used for dining inside or al fresco. The 2-Bedroom Beachside Suites also feature two separate individually controlled air conditioning units in the sitting room and hallway.

If you’re a family, wedding or corporate group looking for the ideal place and space to enjoy each other’s company in privacy, you have truly found it in 3-Bedroom Private Pool Villa Onemaru, which can accommodate up to 10 people (as 6 adults OR 4 adults + 6 children/teens). Here you can enjoy a veritable feast of facilities! This is a completely private 3-bedroom villa with its own large freshwater swimming pool (11m x 5m), spacious decks for sunning and entertaining, mobile BBQ kitchen and relaxing Poolside Pavilion. Each of the 2 master bedrooms has a 4-poster king bed, a spacious ensuite bathroom, a TV and an in-room safe. Each master bedroom accommodates up to one couple (2 adults per room; master bedrooms not available as twin bedded). When you book, some facilities offer the possibility of paying directly at the facility. In these cases you will simply be asked to insert your credit (or debit) card to guarantee the booking, but without any charge. The sum will be taken from your credit card only in the cases provided for by the policies and conditions relating to your booking. Good middle of road value.
We had a lot of advice and warnings about this property but decided to run with it as it has one of the best locations for snorkeling in Rarotonga. To be honest we found it perfectly fine. The rooms were clean and we had no problems during our trip. It has all the facilities you want and the location is hard to beat. We were warned that it was a bit dated but that didn't worry us. We got what we needed which was a relaxing break with no hassles. Only problem was the front office which tried to get us to pay for our accommodation when we got there even though we had paid in full prior to arriving and then they tried to charge for breakfast even though it had been included in the deal. But the problem was quickly resolved. Talking about breakfast the lineups were slow moving and it would make sense of dealing with it in a different way. But overall really happy with the resort. Staff very friendly and responsive. I will stay there again as I found it very laid back and relaxing which was what I wanted.

Rarotongan Beach Resort is Awesome
We are currently staying in the honeymoon suite and absolutely love it. Tons of space pool, jacuzzi tub, and spa with a large room, walk-in shower, and large deck area. Everything is clean. The resort staff are all super friendly and helpful.
The buffet breakfast is minimal, but you can order omlettes and other dishes at an extra charge.
Being avid snorkelers, the reef in front of the resort is phenomenal. I highly recommend the resort.

Very bad experience
Really bad start to a trip I had been looking forward to. I booked and paid upfront in April - when I arrived I was told the hotel was overbooked and no room for me....I waited all day then a room was found but I had to move again to another room after 2 days as they needed that one for someone else. I paid top $$ for a beachfront room and ended up in lower class version. After complaining I was given $100 reimbursement which I was advised I could use in the gift shop!! The moving of rooms had other confusion and complications as the wifi was not transferred plus the account was a mess. The staff are not trained to support international visitors, they all gave conflicting advice and really had no idea and some were very very rude in fact unbelievably rude! I have travelled a lot around the world and do understand cultural differences however if this resort advertises a service then it is criminal to offer less and charge the prices they do. I have never felt compelled to provide negative feedback on any visit so far but this one I feel I must warn other travellers to ensure they are not ripped off and spoil their holiday. Also the breakfast buffet was awful and infection control measures not in place especially with many children using it and picking up food with their hands then putting it back onto the plates to take another one. The Captain's Cocktail drinks was a joke. The three musicians sat there and did not play a single note they talked amongst themselves then when the one plate of snacks arrived they tucked in!! Another big concern for me is the "preserved marine and lagoon". Advertised as taking care of the lagoon was not what i witnessed - throwing food including pastries and fruit to the fish would not be their natural food - this was shocking. It was also windy most days with strong currents - I did not see one staff member patrol the beach to check on snorkelers - they did close off the beach on one day but no checking. There was not enough staff on the resort to provide the advertised 4 star service. This hotel would suit families with small children who can benefit from the kids club and facilities - all activities was focussed around children so for others I would stay well away.

Perfect for 3 generation holiday
Our group of 5 included 79 yo Grandad, Mum and Dad, and two pre-teens from Aotearoa on our first trip to Rarotonga. We stayed in one of the beachfront suites for 10 nights and it was fabulous, with plenty of room for all five of us.
The resort was everything we needed and more. The best part was the staff who were friendly, helpful, patient and really helped the kids learn more about island life. Special shout out to Daisy and Viviene who accommodated constant questions, and Navi on the bar.
Reception staff were helpful with booking transport and activities and providing information about things nearby. The local bus stops at the resort and there is a supermarket not far way.
The beach was beautiful, the gardens were well kept, the rooms were clean, and it was easy enough for Grandad to get around. The rooms were somewhat 'rustic' but that added to the experience. The kitchen had all we needed for self catering. And the cleaning staff were always happy to help. The little shop near reception had a reasonable selection of essentials.
The daily activities and evening entertainment were great, from crab hunting on the beach to making pareu with Daisy, our little miss was kept entertained. We even managed to get grandad involved in some of the activities. Again, the staff were happy to help.
Snorkelling and kayaking and swimming were fabulous. The activities hut had all the equipment needed including sand shoes. Kids were in and out of the water for the whole time we were there. Big bonus with grandad not being able to go in the water was that the fish were entertaining even without going into the water as they swim right up beside the restaurant.
The evening food was OK, with a couple of mix ups in our orders and some delays. But, as we were all on island time, ate elsewhere and we self catered some nights, we only ate at the hotel for convenience sake. However, we did love the tuna meals prepared by the chefs from the fish that our boys caught, and the burger was good.
We were lucky to have fabulous weather for most of our stay, but there were also inside activities around the resort as well.
Tips - get the bus app so you can time your trips, take your own beach towel as the hut sometimes runs out, save any left over chips to feed to the fish, RELAX.

Average at best.
Stayed here for a week. Snorkeling right out front of the resort is amazing and very convenient. Rooms are in ok condition but definitely need some updating as does the whole resort. Service at the restaurant/ bar is very slow , be prepared to wait! You have to line up for everything and there’s no table service. Breakfast is poor. Toast and cereal and it runs out quick and slow to replenish. We didn’t think we cared that much about service but after this stay we obviously do. Kids loved it here though, but 5 days would have been plenty.
