As always, a great stay
I just stayed at Georgian House for the 6th or 7th time. It’s such a great place. It’s in a calm area of London, which was nice when you needed to relax after a long day. Even though the area is calm, it is only a 8-10 minute walk from Victoria Station, which was perfect. The staff and cleaning staff are super nice and polite, and very helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and very cosy and charming. I requested room 6, as I’d stayed there before, and also requested (and paid for) early check in and asked for as close to noon as possible. Both things were accommodated, I got room 6 and I got to check in at precisely noon, which was great since I had had a VERY early flight to London and had zero sleep, I was extremely exhausted, and I was at Georgian House around 10 AM. They stored my luggage for me while I went shopping until I could check in. Room 6 is described as a tiny room, but I actually don’t find it tiny at all. Plenty of floor space to walk around on and for my suitcase to lie on. A nice, spacious bathroom, too, with cool doors, that I think are originally closet doors. There's space underneath the long mirror covering the entire right wall to put your toiletry and beauty items. The hotel is creaky at times but I love that, it gives the hotel character and is a part of its charm. It shows that the house is old, which I find wonderful. There was a kettle, milk pods, biscuits, a cup and teabags provided in the room, which was nice for relaxing in the evenings and watching tv.
I did note a few things I’d recommend to improve, but nothing that affects my overall rating, as they are such minor issues.
- The wifi is still unstable (like I also pointed out in my last review), and only works in certain very specific spots in the room, which was extremely frustrating. Data does not work properly inside the room either, so when I got frustrated with the wifi and turned it off, I had to sit with my phone by the window to catch a data signal.
- There is hand soap, body wash and shampoo provided in the rooms, which is very nice. However, I’d suggest a perfume free alternative to these, particularly a perfume free hand soap by the sink, as I avoid perfume, because I have very sensitive skin. And since you wash your hands quite a few times a day, I had to use my perfume free body wash that I brought from home to clean my hands.
- The curtain in room 6 could use replacing, as it was very frayed at the bottom.
- I’d suggest installing airconditioning, because for some reason, my room was very hot at night, even though it was October. It was not possible to sleep with the window open, as the early morning noise from the street would wake me up.
That’s really all the complaints I have, but they did not affect my overall experience, as I also had several of the issues last time I visited, and it, obviously, didn’t keep me from booking a stay at Georgian House again.
I’d really recommend this hotel, and I’ll be back in the future. Thank you!

Woeful afternoon tea
We booked the Wizarding Afternoon Tea for my grandsons 11th birthday and we were very disappointed. Dry sandwich’s with hardly any filling, small dry scones and cakes that were tasteless and plasticky.
We added on the Magic Potion experience so the adults could make cocktails and our grandson could make mocktails, again it was so disappointing. They forgot to bring out the dry ice wands to stir the ‘magic potions’. We had a glass with chipped edges and the cocktails did not taste nice.
Bearing in mind there was only one other table when we arrived, we had to ask twice for a bottle of Prosecco and they did not clear the table before the cocktail making equipment arrived, my daughter actually helped them clear the table!
Do not waste your money, far better options elsewhere!

Wizard’s Afternoon Tea - in need of a fairy godmother…
We had booked the ‘Wizard Afternoon Tea’ as a Halloween treat for my grandchildren during a visit to London. In theory it is a fabulous idea but in reality it is very poorly executed.
It is admittedly less expensive than afternoon tea in many other London hotels however this was reflected in the quality of the food and the amount of filling in the sandwiches left one variety practically indistinguishable from another.
There was a witch/wizard’s hat on each chair which was a nice touch along with a bubbling cauldron on the table and complimentary sweets. Unfortunately, and assuming that this was an afternoon tea aimed at children, the staff appeared disinterested and didn’t make any effort to engage with them.
