Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal

Venice - Italy

Map
Built in the sixteenth century as a noble residence of the Coccina family, it first passed into the hands of the Foscarini and then the Giovanelli, hosting a series of eminent personalities: in the eighteenth century it was the residence of Marco Foscarini, future Doge of the Republic of Venice, of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in visit to the city with his father, and Frederick Christian IV, King of Denmark. The elegant architecture, rich in polychrome marble, and the sumptuous interiors of Palazzo Giovanelli, enriched with frescoes and decorations of the time, invite you to relive and savor the glories of Venetian history comforted by amenities of modernity. Inside the Palace, original ceilings with exposed beams, wall rosettes frescoed with mythological figures by Giovanni Battista Zelotti, stuccos are still appreciable and perfectly preserved in all their beauty and restored under the supervision of the Superintendency of Fine Arts of Venice, sixteenth-century decorations, as well as an eighteenth-century secret passage in the apartment that belonged to the Doge Foscarini and now an exclusive suite.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why choose Metour.it as your reliable online travel agency?
Metour.it is committed to offering travelers authentic and unforgettable experiences. As a leading trusted online travel agency, we stand out for our dedication to quality, safety and customer satisfaction. Every destination, package and service offered has been carefully selected to ensure an unparalleled travel experience. Furthermore, our expert team is always on hand to assist you at every stage of your journey, ensuring that every detail is taken care of to perfection.
  • Are the prices always the same even if the date changes?
Prices vary based on various factors which may be seasonal, day of the week, occupancy status of the hotel, promotions, particular fairs in the city and more. The advice, to see the prices, is to enter the dates of your stay and make your own comparisons.
  • Is breakfast always included?
No, it depends on the rate and whether the structure is organized to offer it or not. Check carefully before booking what is included and what is not and what type of service is offered.
  • Can I make special requests?
Of course, when booking you will have a field where you can write directly to the property and make your requests. These will be evaluated by the Hotel who will respond directly to you. MeTour is not responsible in this decision-making process.
  • What types of beds will I find in the room I booked?
The type of bed is usually specified in the room sheet. If you have any special requests or needs you can indicate them at the time of booking by writing them in the "special requests" field which will be forwarded directly to the property. In this process MeTour is not responsible.
  • What is Paga in Structural and what are Payment Pre-Authorisations?
When you book, some facilities offer the possibility of paying directly at the facility. In these cases you will simply be asked to insert your credit (or debit) card to guarantee the booking, but without any charge. The sum will be taken from your credit card only in the cases provided for by the policies and conditions relating to your booking. In other cases, when the Partner does not adopt automatic availability and booking systems, but confirms reservations "manually", then you will be asked to insert your credit (or debit) card to guarantee the reservation, and then be directly charged at the same time as the Partner confirms the booking (within 24-48 hours). At that moment you will receive an email with the booking confirmation and payment.
  • How do I know if my card has been pre-authorized?
By consulting your credit card balance you will see that your available balance will be temporarily reduced by the amount of your booking. In other cases and depending on the policy of your credit card circuit, you may also find an entry in the monthly summary of card movements: "pending operation". The pre-authorization block, depending on the situation, will be maintained according to the policies and terms and conditions of what has been booked.
  • How can I cancel or change my booking?
Easy, enter the customer area with your credentials and from there you can modify or cancel your booking. Remember that changing dates or canceling with a refund request depends on the rate you chose when booking.
  • Can I transfer my reservation to another person?
For this request, contact the property directly which may have a specific policy in this regard or may need further data on the person to whom you want to transfer the booking.
  • How can I get help with my booking?
Enter the customer area with your credentials and from there you can contact us or by writing through our contact form specifying your booking number and the reason for the contact request. We recommend that you also leave a telephone number where you can be reached in case of need.
  • Are there taxes, local charges or extras to be paid directly on site?
They are normally clearly indicated in the property sheet or added during the booking phase depending on local regulations or the facility's policies. But even if not clearly indicated, payments may be requested directly to the facility for any tourist taxes, local charges or extras not included in the rate. The advice is to read everything carefully before booking or writing to us through our contact form.
  • Are small pets allowed?
It is often clearly stated in the property sheet and for this reason we invite you to carefully read their policies. Where not indicated, we invite you to contact us through our contact form for more information.

  • What are TripAdvisor reviews?
TripAdvisor reviews on MeTour.it are ratings and comments imported directly from TripAdvisor for each hotel, B&B, resort, campsite, accommodation, restaurant and museum activity you find on our site. They include an overall rating of up to 5 points, the total number of reviews, and detailed ratings for specific categories such as rooms, location, cleanliness, sleep quality, service and value for money. We also show the latest 5 reviews left by travelers on TripAdvisor. This data is automatically updated and is provided to help our users make informed choices. MeTour.it does not edit these reviews and takes no responsibility for their accuracy.

  • How are MeTour.it proposals linked to TripAdvisor reviews? What happens if there are errors in connections with TripAdvisor?

Venice - Late October 24
We enjoyed a wonderful 3-night stay at the Palazzo Giovanelli. All the team were, without exception, extremely helpful, polite, friendly and warm. Our room was elegant, comfortable and clean with a peaceful view of the garden and the Ca’ Pasaro gallery which is literally a stone’s throw away. The bathroom had a double sink and a shower which was big and powerful enough for me, but took a little time to get the temperature just right. It was very quiet at night, although our room had an adjoining door to the next room and it was possible to hear the conversation in that room from time to time.

The location was ideal for us. The hotel fronts onto the Grand Canal and has its own small dock for private water taxis. There is a public water bus stop (San Stae) right nextdoor. The Ca’ Pesaro is a great gallery to visit, hosting an interesting collection of 19th-21st century artworks with several original Rodin sculptures including ‘The Thinker’. The gallery’s café also fronts directly onto the Grand Canal.

The area is quieter than the main tourist hubs of the city, but has many restaurants, peaceful squares and old churches. It felt very safe. I found everything on the main Venice island to be a walkable distance and it is a joy to amble at your own pace through the warren of narrow streets, bridges, canals and alleys. It’s very flat. There are no land vehicles, not even bicycles. Water buses are always an option if tired.

Thank you to all the team at the Palazzo for a wonderful stay!

Magico

Nice stay disappointing upgraded room
This was first stop on our vacation . For my taste the hotel was a little far out from the main attractions . It was nice place small room but was very disappointed . Paid for upgraded deluxe room with canal view . The windows were inches from floor less then two feet high . I would have needed to lay on my stomach to see the view . This clearly did not meet my expectation and feel like they had no right to chg extra for a useless view . Breakfast was good staff attentive

Exceptional
What a delightful stay! Someone recommended Palazzo Giovanelli to us, and we couldn't have been happier. Our room was gorgeous, blending old-world charm with modern amenities. As Americans, we rarely find beds in Europe as comfortable as this one—it was plush and wonderful! The location was ideal, close to the St. Stae stop, but we chose to walk everywhere, which was fantastic. Being a little further out meant we could enjoy quieter nights, and there was no outside noise.

While Venice is extremely safe, we did walk through some darker areas to get back to the hotel at night. If I were traveling alone, I’d probably take the nearby transit stop, which is super convenient.

The breakfast was excellent, served in a small, elegant room where they will personally serve you whatever you like from the buffet—such a classy touch. The hotel even has a private dock, which made it easy to take a water taxi, which you should do at least once!

The shower was stunning, and the bath products were high-end, though the shower was a bit tricky to operate. That’s a minor complaint for such a luxurious stay. The robes were lovely, and the hotel overall felt like a great value for the luxury it offered. Highly recommend!

Merveilleux !

On a adoré

Torneremo e consigliato.

Un finale d’anno da favola
Esperienza bellissima, siamo arrivati e l’accoglienza è stata ottima.

Nice hotel
Stayed here one night. The hotel is very nice and the room was very spacious. It was a short walk from the boat stop and the staff was exceptional. We were scheduled for the buffet breakfast but since we were basically the only ones in the hotel they made our breakfast to order which was great.

If you’re in Venice I would recommend staying here.

Old world charm, modern day luxury
I went on a trip with my daughter and we had the pleasure of staying two nights at the hotel. It starts with the check in, which was warm and welcoming. We were given a small tour and history of the floor we stayed on and then shown our room.
WOW - it was spacious, spotless and serene. We had a garden view room and it does not disappoint. The balcony was magical and the tranquil gardens were inviting.
The bathroom is huge and comes with Ferragamo toiletries, which smells heavenly and feel as luxurious as you expect. The bed is comfortable and big without feeling overwhelming.
The daily breakfast was wonderful. It is not buffet style, which I was happily surprised by. The dining room is not too big, so you would think it would feel crowded and be loud. It was neither.
The guest service - being recommended where to enjoy a great meal and then having them make a reservation for you - was appreciated and just that extra touch. I can’t wait to go back.

Dear wellc0m,

We would like to thank you for your kind and extensive feedback regarding your stay at the Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli.
We couldn't be more delighted to read that you were completely satisfied of all the different aspects of your experience, including our attentive service, and that you truly appreciated the breakfast and the kidness of our Staff.
Our Team is truly looking forward to welcoming you back to Venice in the next future.

Kind regards

Fantastisches Hotel!
Ein perfekter Aufenthalt in Venedig! Schönes Hotel in historischem Palazzo direkt am Canale Grande. Toller Service, gutes Frühstück und sehr schönes Zimmer! Vaporetto hält nur wenige Schritte vom Hotel entfernt! Mehrere gute Restaurants in unmittelbarer Umgebung...

Bonito y buen hotel
Alrededor tienes muchos bares y restaurantes.
