Strange Experience
Stayed in June before a flight from Hamburg airport. There are better located hotels in Hamburg for the airport, but thought I’d try this one.
Initially, very disappointed with staff on reception. Bald guy shoved a check in form at me and pointed at it.
Rooms are really clean and nice enough, but have an odd smell. WiFi is terrible. Bar area is comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Free parking is a real bonus in Hamburg.

Sehr sauber, schick, viel Liebe zum Detail mit Anlehnung an die schulische Vergangenheit des Ortes, nettes Personal. Sehr ruhige Lage. Mit dem Auto ist man in 15 Minuten in der Innenstadt. Leckeres Frühstück, auch als Veganer:in wird man satt. Kommen gerne wieder!

A fantastic hotel as your base for exploring Hamburg
We stayed for 4 nights in this beautifully restored and converted school building (with a car park for those driving). We travelled from Hamburg Flughafen using the S1 train line, changing at Berliner Tor onto the U2 line and then 3 stops to Rauhes Haus (direction of Mümmelmannberg) - about 35 mins in total. Very simple. The neighbourhood is a quiet residential area with a supermarket across the road. The U-Bahn station (Rauhes Haus) is a 4 minute walk, and a very quick and efficient ride into the city centre - do not let this distance put you off, it really is very easy and fast.
We received a complimentary upgrade on check-in which was lovely . The room was a good size, gorgeous shower room, high ceilings, a safe, large TV, mini fridge and comfortable bed. The rooms are quiet, sound proofed - our room was directly across from the breakfast room and the doors were so thick we never heard a thing! Room suggestion: a mirror over desk area would be helpful. The room does not have air-con, and even though this is usually an essential for us, we were provided with an electric fan, and as we visited in April/May (although it was exceptionally warm weather) it didn't affect my Tripadvisor rating!
Breakfast was from 7-11am each morning, with a very good selection of hot food (scrambled/boiled eggs, sausages, beans, bacon), cereals, juices, bread, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, tea/coffee etc. All very good and replenished constantly.
The lounge/bar area and outside area was relaxing and stylish. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. Not many dining options in the neighbourhood, but the tube is so close and efficient that going to a nearby area was no problem at all. Absolutely recommend this hotel as your base for exploring Hamburg.

Hotel mit Charm und liebe zum Detail
Wir waren sehr angenehm überrascht. Tolles Hotel und ein sehr nettes, hilfsbereites und aufmerksames Team. Eine Volksschule, umgebaut zum Hotel, mit vielen, sehr schönen Einblicken aus der ehemaligen Schulzeit. Es lohnt sich überall (in jeder Etage) mal zu stöbern und zu staunen. U-Bahnstation in der Nähe, fußläufig zu erreichen. Lidl und Penny in der Nähe.
Im Hotel gibt es ein reichhaltiges Frühstücksangebot. Alles frisch und sehr ansprechen d präsentiert. Und fehlt mal was, dann hilft das Team sehr gerne weiter. Im Aussenbereich kann man sehr schön sitzen, auch am Abend in nettem Ambiente. Wir haben sogar unkompliziert 2 mal verlängert, weil es uns dort so gut gefallen hat. Mit dem Deutschlandticket kann man mit der Bahn und den Fähren am Hafen fahren.
Bei großen Veranstaltungen in Hamburg direkt in der City oder den Landungsbrücken für viel Geld zu buchen kann jeder.
Aber man möchte doch auch viel sehen und gucken, was Hamburg noch so zu bieten hat. Das Hotel und das Team überzeugt mit viel Liebe zum Detail.

Hotel mit Schulflair, aber anonsten nichts besonderes
Das Hotel lebt vom Flair der alten Volkschule, der verlangte Preis (in meinem Fall 324,00 € für zwei Nächte) wird allerdings durch die Qualität nicht gerechtfertigt. Das Zimmer war für diese Preisklasse recht klein, Fön defekt, recht dunkel, keine kleine Kaffeemaschine auf dem Zimmer. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück umfangreich, qualitativ aber nichts besonderes, besonders das Rührei könnte einen Qualitätsschub vertragen. Ich komme häufig nach Hamburg und bin diesmal meinem Stammhotel, einem Privathotel in Harburg aus Neugier untreu geworden, was ich bereue, zumal es teurer war.
