A wonderful visit that I'd happily repeat
We visited Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana for a week from 6/22 to 6/29. We had an amazing stay and came with high hopes of an excellent vacation and we were not disappointed.

THE GREAT STUFF:

1) The resort is very clean and well maintained with excellent amenities. The water park, spa, basketball and pickleball courts are all excellent and THE GYM rivals very nice health clubs in the States. Each of these is far and away the best I've ever encountered at a resort.

2) The Entertainment team was outstanding. They worked very hard to invite kids to join activities throughout out the day as well as putting on the nightly entertainment which includes a Michael Jackson show, Queen tribute, Bonfire (weather permitting) magic show, beach party with dancing, etc.

The leader of this team is Amado, who is an asset to the resort and its guests. We met him by chance because we were trying to find a convenient way to get back and forth from Ziva to Zilara for dinner. We chatted with him for a while after he led us back to Ziva and during our conversation he learned that our son loves basketball. He told us to look for him the next day to play basketball with him. I didn't think it would happen as everyone there works so hard and is obviously pulled in many directions. Much to our surprise Amado not only showed up but played basketball with our son as well as other guests for about an hour on multiple days. He even brought out a case of water for the participants as it was so hot on the court. This was all a bonus to what he does in his "day job" on the entertainment crew. If you have a chance to meet him while there, I would highly suggest doing so.

3) The food was excellent. Not every dish and not every restaurant met that standard, but overall excellent. It was by far the best food I've had at an AI resort (been to 5 or more) and Brando's (at Zilara) rivals a Vegas style restaurant in decor and had outstanding food. We had great meals at Navigator's (whole fried fish), if Sandy is working when you're there, he was a great waiter and was so polite and attentive. Prontoz was fresh food fast and had several great options for my wife who is Gluten Free. Chinola also has outstanding food and drinks, but on two separate occasions we felt it was very hot, which is somewhat surprising because of its beachfront location.

In addition to the restaurants at the resort they put on several nights of themed dining which were also very good. They had a Cuban, Asian, Mexican night with music and cuisine from each region/country. They also had a beachfront bbq one night which was one of the highlights of our trip because of the food, ambiance and cool tropical breeze we had. I will say the Buffett (El Mercado) had a great breakfast, but we ate there for dinner one night and didn't go back, not so much because of the food, but it's a place for families with small kids and it just wasn't the ambiance we wanted for dinner.

THE GOOD STUFF:

1) Staff - overall the staff was EXCELLENT. They were friendly and accommodating in most every way. Not every single person we encountered meets that description but those were few and far between. From the lifeguards at the water park to the hostess' at El Mercado (specifically Gleinny and others) to Keiber in the Club Lounge and Deiby and his team in the club pool, they worked to anticipate your needs and gave service with a smile. I'm thankful to have encountered them.

2) Club Lounge and Pool - I was not sure about this when booking our stay but I am glad we had access to both. The lounge is a very nicely appointed area with air conditioning that feels like heaven after being in the humidity for a while. They have upgraded liquor there and upon request, also delivered a bottle to my room due to us having booked club.

The club pool was family friendly but was more intimate and relaxing than the main pool. It still had kids splashing around and throwing footballs, etc. but it was just a nice atmosphere and I found it more relaxing than the pace of the main pool.

3) The beach - soft white sand, palm trees, water sports, available drink service, umbrellas and chaise lounges galore, what about this is not to love? Don't let a little bit of seaweed (it's the sea) scare you away from getting out in the water. They have some artificial reefs setup out near the barrier net that you can snorkel around and look into while out there. The depth is probably about 5.5' at its deepest and up to 2'-3' as you get closer to shore. It is not one of the top beaches I've been to, but it's very nice and in no way will detract from a stay at this resort.

THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF:

1) HUMIDITY - the rooms lack venting of the bathrooms (toilet and shower area), so showering increases the humidity substantially even with bathroom doors closed and keeping sliding and front door to the room closed as much as possible. This leads to damp tile floors and sheets that feel damp or wet upon entering bed. It was so bad in one room I demanded to be moved. The hotel obliged but it was less than ideal to have to move mid week. The new room was better than the one we moved from, but humidity was still an issue.

2) Kids at the bar - this is a family resort and I get that families want to stay together but multiple times families with children under 10 years old would be posted up at the bar in the club lounge taking up 4-5 barstools. First come, first serve but I feel for both the families and the other guests it would be appropriate to have children utilize seating areas just away from the bar, but easily within view of the children. Maybe I'm old fashioned but children don't belong at a bar at night, even if it's at an all inclusive resort. Kids at the swim up bars getting virgin daiquiris etc. is fair game, but 9pm in the club lounge there shouldn't be any kids at the bar.

Hyatt crece conmigo
Mi querido Hyatt, siempre estando conmigo en mis mejores momentos. En esta ocasión estábamos celebrando mi cumpleaños, sin mentir nunca me habían cantado tantas veces cumpleaños en la vida. Es que simplemente los detalles del Hyatt son inigualables, cuando llegamos a la habitación había unos fiambres, copas y vinos. La habitación como siempre extremadamente higiénica. Mi felicidad no cabe en mi corazón mi hijo mas grande ha vivido tantas etapas en el Hyatt, ya ha crecido y disfruta de los toboganes como nadie, ama la comida y quedo fascinado con los servicios de Diana del buffet.

La sonrisa de todo el staff es acogedora, y las actividades nos mantuvieron en todo momento viviendo toda una experiencia.

Debo decir que llamo mi atención una nueva experiencia que tienen, es un Restaurante que se llama The Butcher si mal no recuerdo, es temático de 5 tiempos y tienen un montón de sorpresas dentro. Cuando vuelva ya les contare.

Cumpleaños familiar
Si en algún momento determinado de su vida osan por hospedarse en un hotel donde gusten degustar de una experiencia inigualable el Hyatt es su lugar idóneo. Cuanta afabilidad por parte del personal, los alimentos minuciosamente escogidos para el paladar de sus huéspedes, bebidas premium en abundancia, por lo que esta formula de alimentos y bebidas en excelencia junto con las gratas atenciones elaboran la fórmula perfecta para una estadía perfecta. Una experiencia inolvidable para la familia
Definitivamente la mejor experiencia para la familia. La más alta calidad y atenciones de sus colaboradores, la constante supervisión de sus ejecutivos incluyendo la del gerente general Sr. Pedro Tomás, sumado a una experiencia gastronómica de primer nivel y unas instalaciones de primer nivel, hacen del Ziva una Experiencia inolvidable para la familia.

Staff attitude was a low point
My 2nd trip to PC with my first stay being at Secrets which my wife and I throughly enjoyed. This time we had the whole family with us so we needed a family friendly AI option. Ziva Cap Cana came up as the 2nd highest rated hotel so I booked with a fair amount of confidence.

The good: the suites are clean and spacious; if you have kiddos they will LOVE the water park and kids club; the popsicles at the coffee bar in the lobby are delicious and the perfect relief from the PC sun; the massage at the spa is worth the extra fees

The not good: 50% of the time when you dial 0 or the front desk, no one will answer; 1/3 of the time you dial and reach someone, they will forget to deliver you hat you asked for; housekeeping forgot to service our room during one day of our stay which created a huge inconvenience—I brought this to a managers attention and was told that the service window is up until 5:00 pm which made no sense to me, especially given the fact that we returned to our suite well past 4pm with no clean towels, trash cans emptied or any of our 3 suites cleaned.

The outright bad: 2/3 of the hotel staff are outright not pleasant and don’t even try to hide it. I found this to be more of the case at the restaurants strangely enough. I also noticed that when I began tipping more the attitudes seemed to change instantaneously, but the default for many of the hotel even on a first encounter with a guest was indifference at best and annoyance at worst. Many even seem to have a scowl on their face when we made any sort of request or even asked a question. This was never the case when we stayed at Secrets and staff needs some seriously coaching up in this regard.

Hyat Ziva Cap Cana Mercado Manager George, Chef Kelsey, Server Jhairo SIMPLY THE BEST
Hyatt Ziva truly values their customers/guest.
Had great experience overall.
I will never forget how George one of the Managers in "Mercado Restaurant" went above and beyond to serve us. Chef Kelsey also served us what we wanted to eat outside o f their vast menu choices. Jhairo was our daily server for breakfast and he also made our daily breakfast experience unforgettable.

We said to Mercado Manager George that we were in the mood to eat a special Dominican dish which we love. George said, no worry, I will have it ready for you tomorrow at 1:00 PM. We went for lunch at 1:00 PM and sure enough, our favorite Asopado de Pollo with a side order of Dominican Republic grown large avocado was ready for us. Check Kelsey came out, met us and said if we had any other special food request, he would prepare for us.

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!
My family and I have gone on various caribbean vacations in multiple great hotels but NOTHING has compared to the Hyatt Ziva! I want to start off with the actual staff and employees of the hotel. Absolutely AMAZING! If you need something, they’re there for you every step of the way. They are super friendly and you automatically feel that you are in hands that you can trust. A special thank you to Enger, who was there for anything my family needed every step of our vacation and really made our trip shine with his incredible energy and kindness!! Another thank you to Jose, the entertainment director, who just has so much passion for his job and towards giving us the greatest experience. I loved his aqua bike lessons!! A final thank you to all the ladies at the Spa, I was treated with such care and excellence it was truly outstanding service. I asked one of the ladies at the spa who was caring for me to take a picture of me, and not only did she know the perfect angles but she also gave me a little photoshoot, which took all my embarrassment away. Thank you THANK YOU to the entire staff. As for the hotel, WOW. Absolutely WOWed!! Amazing activities and incredible comfort. I would go back next week if I could!! Food was also amazing, the Butcher was such a fun restaurant, and all the other restaurants that are included were just soooooooo delicious!! Thank you Hyatt Ziva for such a wonderful experience! I will see you next time!

This was a fantastic resort. Food was great, staff went above and beyond taking care of us. Beach was beautiful, pool was great. Everything was clean and comfortable. Our personal concierge, Juan, was extremely helpful. I absolutely would go back to this resort again and I plan to!!!

Très bien dans l ensemble
Nous revenons tout juste d'une semaine au hyatt ziva cap cana, 2 adultes et 1 enfant de 9 ans, l hôtel est superbe, très propre, l acceuil super, le personnel très attentionné partout sur le resort, les filles au bar a café, les serveuses à la mer et surtout alejandro au buffet....la nourriture était bien, mais sans plus, selon nous !!! Vous pouvez y trouver presque toutes les sortes de boissons alcoolisées et ce dans tous les bars de l hôtel...les spectacles le soir, fantastiques !!!
Malheureusement la mer était pas au top cette semaine, beaucoup d algues, ils ramassent le matin et plus dutout après pendant la journée, donc en après midi, il y en a beaucoup sur le sable, très triste!!!
Petit problème à la dernière journée de nos vacances, on nous avait promis un "late checkout" toute la semaine, car notre départ était prévu à 17h30, mais le matin même ils nous ont dit que ça ne serait pas possible, pourtant l hôtel était loin d'être à pleine capacité, très décevant pour une hôtel de cet envergure

Super hotel avec une belle vue, belle chambre, bonne nourriture et excellent service. Nous avons été 5 nuits. Nous avons été au restaurant Japonais, français et le steak house. Une mention spéciale à notre serveur Demetrio (Mossles : Odalis) au Waves Steackhouse. Merci beaucoup pour ton service.

Points qui pourraient être améliorer :
1) un peu trop collé à la plage. L'employé qui installe les chaises et parasols ne laissent pas assez de distance entre les familles. Ceux qui arrivent plus tard devraient être en arrière ou plus loin vers les côtés.
2)Dès mon arrivé à l'hotel, j'ai demandé à garder ma chambre plus longtemps la journée de mon départ puis que l'avion était à 8H20 du soir. La réception m'ont demandé de revenir la journée de mon départ, ce que nous avons faits. Nous étions prêts à payer pour garder la chambre. 1 heure de plus seulement a été accordée. Pourtant, nous avons vu plusieurs arrivés dans le Loby tout le long de la pm avec leurs valises...

Nous allons certainement y retourner essayer les autres restaurants et profiter de ce luxueux complexes.

Traumhaftes Hotel mit perfekten Service,Shows,Essen,Zimmer alles super.Es hat jedoch nicht das was man von der dominikanischen Republik erwartet.Keine Einheimische Musik im Hotel,es war dann doch eher eine Mischung aus Ibiza(Musik)und Malediven oder Mauritius (Personal).Wie selbstverständlich auf perfektem Englisch angesprochen zu werden von jedem Mitarbeiter war mir bisher fremd in der Dominikanischen Republik(Hello statt Hola) ist nur ein bespiel.Irritierend auch,sie legen bei jeder Begrüßung die Hand aufs Herz#gab es nie in der Dom rep.sollte nicht als störend gelten aber es passt halt nicht zu diesem Land

Best Vacation!
Der Service ist sehr nett und alle Mitarbeiter sind höfflich und nett. Besonders die Clara, sie hat immer ein lächeln im Gesicht.

Essen: Alles sehr lecker! Besonders die Steaks und Asiatische Essen.

Service: Perfekt, es wurden jeden tag 2 mal die Handtücher gewechselt. Und das Zimmer war immer Sauber.

Zimmer: Sehr schön, sehr großes Badezimmer und Balkon.

Die Anlage an sich ist sehr schön und hat einen tropischen "Vibe" an sich.

Brayan, Amado und Jose sehr gute entertainer und immer nett und lustig drauf.

Der Service im Hotel ist perfekt. Die Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam, es wird überall am Pool und Meer nach Getränken gefragt. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr engagiert um das Wohl der Gäste.
Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und groß besonders das Badezimmer und der Balkon. Ein perfektes Hotel zum entspannen für Paare oder Familien.
Das Essen ist wirklich überall sehr gute Qualität in jedem der a la carte Restaurants. Das Team ist immer sehr freundlich vor allem brayan, Amado and jose.

Es gibt fast nichts negatives. Wir waren letztes Jahr schon hier. Das Essen ist sehr sehr gut. Auch der Service ist super. Alle Mitarbeiter sind freundlich, hilfsbereit, motiviert. Auch wenn man mal kein Trinkgeld gibt. Allerdings waren die Cocktails am Pool im letzten Jahr besser. Da gab es nicht nur die einfachen Plastikbecher.Es waren richtige Cocktail Gläser aus Plastik. Die Anrichtung/ Garnierung war auch besser letztes Jahr. Ansonsten war es ein sehr schöner Urlaub. Danke an Billy ( unser Butler ) er war sehr aufmerksam und fragte immer, ob wir etwas brauchen.

Un posto meraviglioso per trascorrere una vacanza indimenticabile il servizio di tutte le persone è molto professionale, rispettano il protocollo molto bene in tutti i luoghi, le maschere sono obbligatorie.

Le camere sono molto confortevoli e si vede il mare dalla superficie, le cameriere avevano sempre le nostre camere molto pulite e con un buon profumo, avevamo un frigorifero che aveva birre e coca cola tra le altre cose.

Arturo si è preso cura di darci un buon seguito di come stavamo andando in vacanza sempre con la buona intenzione di aiutare, gli spettacoli sono spettacolari sia per i bambini che per gli adulti, lo spettacolo della sirenetta ha apprezzato i bambini, Michael Jackson, Circus e alla moda, Arismendy è responsabile di questi spettacoli meravigliosi e quegli spettacoli sono davvero meravigliosi tutti, Ramón e Delfy ci hanno aiutato a trovare le sedie nel teatro e ci hanno fatto sentire a nostro agio, siamo molto grati all'hotel completo ma ancor di più con il team di animazione, un saluto speciale a Okenda, Katty, Indira e Esthefany.

La spa è super moderna e confortevole e con ottimi lavoratori e macchinari per tutti i tipi di massaggi, la palestra è super grande e con macchinari nuovi grazie a Frendy che ci ha aiutato con la zumba e con la bicicletta.

Le bevande sono di ottima qualità in tutti i bar i ragazzi sono molto gentili e amichevoli, Alex, Marianyelis, Vianca, Adolfina, Logan, Jorge tra gli altri.

La spiaggia è bellissima e la piscina è super fredda e confortevole, ci sono molti posti dove riposare e passare dei momenti super piacevoli, siamo stati più che soddisfatti e lo consigliamo a tutti, è un posto meraviglioso, il migliore della Repubblica Dominicana Repubblica.
