A little dated
The hotel was fine for a couple of nights. The rooms were lovely and modern (although we were given a view of a wall which was a shame!) . The pool is freezing so not useable in the winter months. The interior of the hotel (lobby and hallways) are a little run down and could do with updating. The lounge/bar is relaxing with the fire and TV. Breakfast had a large variety of options but the heaters to keep food warm (like beans, hashbrowns etc) were luke warm at best so the food was generally pretty cold.
The hotel is set about a 15 mins walk from the water front where the restaurants are so you will need to use a taxi after dark.

Tolles Hotel, schlechte Küche
Das Hotel ist wunderschön.
Vor 5 Jahren haben wir hier auch gut gegessen.
Leider wurde uns diese Freude aktuell nicht zuteil.
Der Kellner war freundlich und hat getan, was in seinen Möglichkeiten steht.
Der Koch jedoch tat alles, um uns zu keiner Wiederkehr zu bewegen. Frei nach dem Motto „ blöde Touris“. Statt geröstetem Gemüse gab es zerkochten Brokkoli und jede Menge Pilze. Statt Reis waren Pommes auf dem Teller, das Gemüse auch hier zerkocht und auch nach der Reklamation fehlte die Currysoße und jegliches Gewürz.
Auch die als Entschuldigung der Küche servierten Eiskugeln zum Teilen waren leider lieblos angerichtet. Ich tippe wirklich auf mangelndes Können.
Meine Ortsansässigen lieben Verwandten waren auch enttäuscht und werden dort wohl nicht wieder dinnieren.
Schade um diesen wunderschönen Ort.

Ein historischer Ort, ehemals der alte Bahnhof, eine Unterkunft mit Flair und Atmosphäre
Angekommen im sommerlichen Swakopmund empfing uns das Hotel wie schon mehrere Male vorher mit einem professionellen und warmherzigen Willkommen. Der Eintritt in den eindrucksvollen Innenhof mit dem sehr schönen Pool lies uns die Strapazen der Fahrt vergessen und ein Hauch von Luxus verbreitet eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Die Zimmer sind großzügig und modern, gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Bad mit Dusche und Badewanne großzügig gestaltet. Etwas zu Essen bekommt man entweder in dem großen Frühstücksrestaurant, ein etwas kleiner gehaltenes Lunch direkt an der Bar am Pool. Nach mehrwoechiger Reise durch die Wildnis Namibias haben wir den Luxus dieses Hauses in dem netten Küstenstaedchen sehr genossen. Das Hotel liegt zudem sehr zentral, alle Restaurants und auch die Einkaufsstraßen sind auch zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der Strand ist ebenfalls nicht weit, ein Spaziergang durch die Stadt mit Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Wir mögen den Aufenthalt im Swakopmund Hotel und würden sehr gerne wieder kommen.

Good value
Hotel conveniently located pretty much at the end of the B2 from Walvis Bay. 10 min walk to the pier. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Nice old building that used to be a train station. Rooms were fine but the soundproofing wasn't the best so quite noisy in the evenings and mornings. Great wifi and a load of sports channels on the TV. Ate at the Tug near the pier and Inspired Pizza just around the corner from the hotel on Hendrik Street - both worth a visit. Good value for what we paid overall.
Drove from Sossusvlei - C27-C19-C14-B2. Google said 5 hours, took 30 mins more largely due to parts of the C19 and C14 being very corrugated. Driving c80kph on the corrugated parts helps with the quality of the ride but you then need to be careful as the car isn't as stable especially around slight bends!

Great place to stay
I always stay here as it’s central , service normally good, and has amnesties such as a bar and pool. Reception desk always there to help and the pool area is lovely to chill in. It’s a little more expensive than most of the rival hotels but I would say worth it. Only disappointment this time was the bar. The chap working behind it decided to cash up 30 mins before the advertised closing time of 11pm. Might not sound a big deal but when you have arranged a leaving drink with a colleague it’s not so great in a closed bar. Otherwise fully recommend this establishment.
