Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara

The camp is an absolute wonder and our 02 nights here were wonderful. The staff were excellent and the rooms were awesome. The location is fantastic and the planning is well thought. It is excellent for families, solo travellers, honeymooners and also takes care of wheel chair guests. Thankyou Moses and your wonderful team

The location surpasses all other camps being on the river, near the ridge, with hippos present nonstop. Large reception area with multiple options for relaxing or doing WiFi activities. Food was superb with 3 main options for main courses plus pasta variations always available. Food was high quality and filling with 3 course meals. Staff offered luxurious service with warm towels upon returning from safari. Hot showers heated with gas. Beds with heated bottles at night were comfortable with quite a few pillow options. Napping on private patio a must. Outdoor covered showers were huge (12 ftx 8 ft at least) staff respected privacy if preferred but also connected and shared for those who enjoy getting to know the local communities.

Sunrise is the best time of the day so leave 6:15-6:30 am then take a nap in afternoon. NOT hot end of May and sweatshirts occasionally needed at night.

Would be nice to have a game or community talk with guests in evening or before 4:00 game drive to share experiences and laugh together. Maybe a few games…African ones? I brought cards and no guests wanted to play as most were too tired so staff agreed and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my whole trip!!! Thanks to the Pumba (spoons version) card group for the amazing memory!!!

Be sure to get Ecotour which should include seeing the cooking school. Come with a few questions for students to really make the interaction impactful. Chef is superb. AND don’t forget to find the Masai beading area as the sign is hidden where guests don’t walk and I didn’t find out till last day.

Absolutely perfect in every way! From the amazing, kind and knowledgable staff… to the exemplary service… no detail was left unattended. Special thank you for the sweet and unexpected birthday cake and celebration (the sweet ladies at the front desk happen to notice my birthday was a week ago and they surprised me with a cake and singing). The grounds are amazing, the river, hippos and wildlife viewing with a glass of wine in hand! Would highly recommend everyone coming to the Mara choose this as their accommodations!!

Jambo...wir waren drei Nächte im Mai dort und erlebten eine unglaublich beeindruckende Tierwelt. Von unserer Terrasse sahen wir direkt auf den Fluss Mara mit Hippos und Krokodilen. Im Camp kamen immer mal niedliche Dik Diks vorbei. Das Personal war super freundlich und hat alles getan, damit wir uns rundum wohl gefühlt haben. Es gab ausgezeichnetes Essen. Die Überraschung mit dem Bush Dinner ist voll gelungen. Herzlichen Dank und weiter so!

I would have never thought that all the little details would be taken care of, but they were. The camp was so secure, always had an escort at night to walk me back to my tents! My tour guides for the game drivers were incredible and tailored my drives to what I was hoping to see. We had spent 5 days trying to find a cheetah and with a stroke of luck on the final morning, we found one right before I had to leave… like the final hour of the safari! The people who were working at the camp worked to know my name and what I liked so everyday I had meals that were top quality. But the views of the mara is what had my heart. From
the Bush dinner to the Bush breakfast (which I had no idea they were planned) was so great to have. The camp was a perfect base to spend 5 days in and the people there were so welcoming! I felt right at home!

I thank you so much for the most incredible experience for my first time to east africa! I was excited but I was taken care of along every step of the journey, which blew me away. I will be back and I will back at Karen Blixen!
