In the middle of the idyllic foothills of the Alps, at 1000 m above sea level, lies this 50 m2 newly renovated holiday flat on 2 levels. Our breeding farm includes alpacas and their foals, dairy cows, calves, breeding sows and their piglets, fattening pigs, bees, chickens, cats and our child-friendly dog. We offer a special holiday experience where you have the opportunity to get to know all the farm animals and their offspring up close.

Our traditional Toggenburg house was built in the 16th century and the farm is now in its 4th generation of family ownership. The touch of exoticism extends beyond our alpacas to our mixed cultures from Switzerland, Australia and Japan. Our different places of origin enable us to offer our international guests supportive suggestions for local excursions in fluent German and English, and with the help of our stepmother, also in Japanese.


Kitchen
The solid wood kitchen with frosted glass front and granite surface is not just a functional cooking area, but a real highlight. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils and has a large cupboard for storing food. The extendable table with space for up to 6 people can also be used as another work surface. The kitchen window offers a wonderful view of the gently rolling hills, making cooking more of a pleasure than a chore.

Terrace
On the 16 M2 terrace, with a view of the Necker Valley, you can enjoy the sunset with the serenity of the alpacas, and watch the working life on the farm during the day. From the kitchen, the balcony door allows easy access to enjoy your meals under the stars on an alpaca fur seat cover.


Living room
The comfortable sofa can be used as a relaxation area or as a spacious sofa bed. The living room is equipped with a large screen TV and fibre optic Wi-Fi for those looking for some evening entertainment.


Bedroom
The combination of the uniquely inclined solid wood bed with natural surface treatment and the natural materials of the Samina bed system makes sleeping a true experience. Sleeping in a slightly inclined position helps with circulatory problems, sleep apnoea, snoring, heartburn, multiple sclerosis and back problems. And for additional guests, the spacious permanent sofa bed ensures a restful night's sleep.

Thanks to the exclusive alpaca sleeping equipment including alpaca mattress topper, alpaca duvets and alpaca pillows as well as the alpaca fur products, you will experience the true pleasure of our alpaca products, which you can also purchase in our Alpaka Appenzell farm shop.

Bathroom
The modern bathroom is the perfect oasis for a time-out. The comfortable bathtub invites you to relax and thanks to the new sloping backrest, you can lie down as comfortably as in a deckchair. The shower is equipped with an additional rain shower function and envelops the entire body with warm and gentle jets of water.

Shopping
The mini shopping centre 2 km away with a bakery, butcher's shop, grocery shop and Landi leaves nothing to be desired. You can also savour the taste of fresh cow's milk or meat and produce from our own farm. On our farm you will find our exclusive Alpaka Appenzell farm shop for that special souvenir to remember your unforgettable holiday experience.

Hiking / Cycling
The Alpstein region is a true hiking dream and is also loved by bikers and cyclists. Hiking trails and cycle paths are well signposted everywhere. The Way of St James leads directly through the farm and is considered the most breathtaking part of the Way of St James. The pump track in Ürnasch also guarantees a lively cycling experience.

Restaurants
After a short walk along the Way of St James towards Schwellbrunn, you can treat your taste buds at the Sitz restaurant. Or you can visit the very popular Restaurant Ochsen in the village centre of Schönengrund. We recommend a trip to the Hochhamm mountain restaurant, which offers great cuisine and a breathtaking view of the Säntis and the Alpstein.

Summer activities
The region offers a variety of barbecue spots in a marvellous natural setting. The River Necker is perfect for cooling off in the hot season and the leisure pool in the neighbouring village of Waldstatt is just a few minutes' drive away. For nature lovers, the Neckertal treetop walk offers a true nature experience, where you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view high up in the trees.

Winter activities
Winter offers a variety of opportunities to glide down the hills in the snow. Be it on skis with the nearby Hörnli, Hemberg and Schwellbrunn ski lifts. Or with bobsleighs and sledges directly from the house. Our farm is also the perfect starting point for a snowshoe tour along the Way of St James. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, there is a varied, 15km-long cross-country ski trail between Schönengrund and Schwellbrunn.

Location description: Our farm is situated at 1000 metres above sea level, directly at the corner of Appenzellerland and Toggenburg. The Necker valley to the west offers an oasis for chilling out. A dip in the Necker and a barbecue by the open fire are the perfect way to enjoy a hot summer's day. The Alpstein region in the south offers breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps and the valley and hills below. If you're looking for a city break, to the east lies the city of St. Gallen and the next largest village, Herisau. On clear days, you can look out of the north-facing kitchen window directly onto Lake Constance and the lowlands of Germany.
