Hotel Castle Mandawa

During our Rajasthan round trip we stayed one night at the Castle Mandawa Fort. Since it was off season, we almost had the hotel for ourselves and we enjoyed the stay very much and it was almost a pitty that we had to leave the next day to continue our round trip.

The Staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was very good, we had dinner and breakfast. We always picked Indian food, also for breakfast; the later was on recommendation of the staff but we did not regret it. It was better than the western style dishes.

The whole hotel is very nice (outdoor and indoor area) and we loved exploring the whole hotel or better castle using the narrow and winding corridors. The room was also very nice and the interior fitted perfectly to the impression living in a castle (but before I get my hands sore, please see the pictures). Everything was clean, also the pool - maybe it was also off season for the pigeons ;-) But we also saw people taking thoroughly care of cleaning the pool.
All in all I can recommend this Hotel to everyone and specially to tourist who like heritage hotels.

The property is beautiful but the rooms are very old and require renovation. This property has so much potential if they renovate and restore it. Even cleanliness and hygiene is not up to the mark. The staff of the property is good. We stayed here because I think this is the only decent option in that region.

It’s not surprising that this hotel has such wide ranging reviews. It is quirky. The entrance, reception and public rooms are excellent. The staff are very good. However it is let down by some pretty shabby elements in the rooms. As others have commented the very attractive looking pool is a magnet for pidgeons - scores of them - so a risky swim! In fairness I don’t know what they can do to stop this other than redesign the pool to take away the shallow waterfall much loved by the birds.

I agree with another reviewer who described the hotel as decadent. Needs urgent maintenance. The hotel photos are misleading. The bathroom in the room was dirty. We decided not to stay despite having the night paid. The manager offered us a free upgrade to another room that was less dirty, the bathroom was not perfect either, but if the rooms were not clean, we were concerned about how clean the food preparation could be. Beyond that Mandawa is not worth it. It was the first place we visited in India 12 days ago that we didn't find interesting and we didn't like it. Tip: don't waste time in Mandawa with all the wonderful things to see in India and if you decide to go, be prepared for a decadent hotel without enough cleanliness

Premesso che non so il prezzo effettivamente pagato per 1 notte perché prenotato da un'agenzia locale in un pacchetto unico di 14 pernottamenti, la recensione sarà parziale perché il rapporto qualità/prezzo è importante. la prima camera assegnataci (nb royal deluxe) aveva un bagno allucinante: wc sporco, schizzi scuri su parete, un secchio nella doccia... Comunque ce l'hanno cambiata senza problemi dandocene una molto grande e con bagno pulito stavolta. Trattandosi di un'antica residenza i sanitari erano molto "spartani" e l'acqua calda faticava ad arrivare; nella stanza c'era una zona con divanetti e tavolini (tappezzeria d'epoca..in tutti i sensi..). Faceva freschino e ci hanno dato un riscaldamento elettrico non essendoci aria condizionata. L'esterno dell'albergo avrebbe bisogno di una ristrutturazione; alcuni locali comuni compreso il ristorante sono molto caratteristici. Considerati gli standard indiani non male la cucina (abbiamo pranzato e cenato) con scelta di cibi anche non piccanti (non scontato). Di certo non equivale ad un ns 4 stelle; direi un 3 stelle scarso. Come già detto non so il costo sostenuto a notte; a 50/60 euro avrei dato 4 pallini (molto bene).
