Great Central Hotel
I stayed here for two weeks in January 24, booked through British Airways who I flew out and back with.
An elegant building that could not be better sited on the Diagonal Norte with the Cathedral and Plaza De Mayo at one end and the Obelisco at the other, the main shopping street Calle Florida is one block away as is the famous Cafe Tortoni ( the oldest Brasserie in BA). The ‘must take’ hop on hop off bus stop and ticket office is across the street from the hotel itself, also, there are 2 Subte lines and stations to the left and right of the hotel. In other words bang in the centre of the city with nearly everything within walking distance.
The hotel itself is rated 5* and very busy used by top South American soccer teams playing in BA and many aircrew from international airlines. Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities in the world chock full of beautiful European architecture and the hotel architecture does this justice. The rooms are large, air conditioned and well appointed and beds changed every day - first time I have come across this. There is an excellent affordable a la carte restaurant on the ground floor and the main restaurant for breakfast is on the first floor. Breakfast itself is excellent with huge choices to suit every taste, although busy, it is well managed and clean. The best thing about the hotel is the Staff for whom nothing could be too much trouble, in fact a lady behind the reception desk offered to give me her Subte Pass, which of course I did not take and gave her mine when I left. On the top floor there is a pool overlooking the city with plenty of loungers and a great bar for both drinks and snacks. The only criticism I have is that the in room TV’s did not have English speaking programs although there was plenty of sport especially soccer even live matches from Europe! I will certainly stay at this hotel again as I visit BA regularly and highly recommend it. There is no better time for foreigners to visit BA as because of inflation prices are very affordable (see my review of the restaurant’El Establo’).

Nice Hotel in a fantastic location. It's Great Value
Location
You cannot fault the hotels location on a busy main street between the Oblisk and Plaza de Mayor. There are two subway stations within easy walking distance of the hotel and cafes, restaurants and gift shops, all close by. The airport is around a 20 minute drive away, subject to traffic.
Check In
Reception were polite, efficient and very friendly. The guy who checked us in spoke perfect English and was very happy to talk about English football and the Premier League. He also upgraded our room.
The Room
Several people who have left reviews about the 725 Continental Hotel, have said that the hotel and rooms don't live up to the 5 Star rating. Our room was very nice, but it didn't feel like 5 star, more like a decent 4 star. However the hotel isn't charging 5 star Marriott type prices either, so represents great value for money.
Our room had a very comfortable bed, a clean modern bathroom and good quality furniture with plenty storage space. The television was definitely on the small side and the view from our room wasn't fantastic. Elsewhere the lifts were small and slightly claustrophobic but worked perfectly ok.
Breakfast
If you like cakes and pastries, then breakfast was a dream, with lots of stuff to choose from. Other than that there was a good selection of fresh fruit, plus the usual meats and cheeses. The only disappointment of breakfast was undoubtedly the worst coffee I have ever had.
Staff
The cleaners kept our room immaculately clean and were cheerful and friendly. Reception were always helpful. Some reviews have mentioned a surly lady at breakfast. Everyone we met was friendly and kind.
Check Out
Checkout was quick and efficient and we had no issues whatsoever.
Value for money and Final Summary
The 725 Continental Hotel is a beautiful old building and was probably once a stunning palatial style residence. It's very impressive. There are some signs of wear and tear and some areas need a minor bit of TLC but it's still a great stay. If the rates are 5 Star then there may be better options, but it was more 4 Star prices when we stayed and is good value then, especially given the location.

Está muy bien. No se cual es la relación precio calidad porque estuvimos una sola noche por un sistema de recompensas. La habitación muy bien, el desayuno muy completo. Sin saber cual es el precio por noche, puedo recomendarlo en base a nuestra experiencia. La ubicación para turistas es inmejorable.

Good location reasonable price
During my trip to Argentina, I stayed at a few different places, and for the price, this hotel is a good choice. The staff are nice, breakfast is better than average, and it's in a good spot. But, it's a bit old, can be noisy, and the internet isn't very strong.

Perfect hotel to discover central BA.
Excellent location for a short visit to BA, very close to main historical places and interesting views. Very good breakfast, enjoyable atmosphere and friendly service. Very quiet rooms in the side street, so good for peaceful rest and stay.
