Distinction Dunedin Hotel

Best of both worlds here with a quality modern hotel in a building with that old world solid feel to it.
Room was on a higher floor and quite spacious. And the shared areas of the hotel were very clean and inviting, with a friendly and efficient staff.
Meal in the restaurant was good as was the breakfast, and the bar area provided an enjoyable pre & post dinner drink.
The hotel's location also allows easy access to other Dunedin restaurants, cafes and watering holes.
We would happily have stayed another night if our arrangements had allowed.

One of the best places we stayed in all of New Zealand's South Island. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, making it easy to walk and enjoy the scenic beauty and historic architecture. Our Studio room was awesome, so spacious and chock full of amenities. We especially appreciated having a full washer and dryer in the bathroom. Beyond the facilities, the staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Our red eye flight from Los Angeles took us to the hotel early in the day, but they had a room ready which was a huge relief to travel weary visitors. Whenever we needed suggestions about the city, walking routes, any advice the staff were so helpful and eager to assist. Breakfast and lunch at the hotel restaurant was perfect, and again the service was first class. Finally, our pickup for our hiking adventure tour of the South Island was in the afternoon, so the hotel staff secured our luggage while we made a final tour around the beautiful city of Dunedin.

The staff were amazing! Would recommend this hotel on the staff alone. The studio room was better than I expected. Quiet, nice view, nicely furnished, A place for everything, Kitchenette was perfect (included a toaster & Microwave which is unheard of in Hotels) Bathroom was perfect (with washing machine & dryer) Blockout Curtains, Cookies (nice touch) We then moved to the Two Bedroom Apartment . . . (Room 423 I think) It was the same as the Studio with two seperate bedrooms. Sofa was a little tired, looking at an office block opposite was not nice and the noise in the first bedroom was unpleasant. I did report this on checkout but not sure anything will be done. The Restaurant (Parcels) again filled with wonderful staff (plus the Bar Staff) and the food (Chicken Dish and Pasta Dish) was superb (well done Chef) almost forgot, the parking which was opposite the hotel and cost $27 per night. Would have liked to see more seating in foyer, floor lamps in rooms and maybe two bottles of water on the besides

Booked an Executive Suite and it did not disappoint. The room was well maintained (couldn't fault anything), spacious, and had a very large and impressive bathroom. The management here could teach some other hotels how to get the basics right - cleanliness and maintenance top notch. The buffet breakfast was also good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. If I could find one small criticism, it's the car park charge. I found out after arrival it was cheaper to park on-street than the pre-paid hotel car park. If you're not driving then there is no fault to be found here. You can't get better than that.

The hotel staff are very professional and helpful from the front desk to housekeeping. The rooms are large (approx 30+ m2) and extremely sound proof internally and externally. They are well appointed with a feeling of understated luxury. The bed was large and very comfortable with a good range of pillow options, and fresh crisp linen. The room (717) had a huge bathroom with washing machine + dryer, bath, microwave, fridge, and large flatscreen TV. Great views of the harbour from glass lifts and their own parking building ($25/24hrs). There is plenty of street parking however which is free from 6pm until 9am. Room service was good and prices average for a 4 star hotel. We didn’t use the restaurant but it looked better than the website pictures so we’ll try next time. It did feel however very 5 star. The location is right in the CBD with plenty of cool Bars and Cafes all around the property. There is good shopping about 10mins walk past the Octagon on George St. We paid $250 per night and you can get a free breakfast with that if you watch specials. We’ll be staying again next time in Dunedin, it takes a bit to impress a jaded traveller like me but I was very impressed.
