Set in a historic red brick stone school building, the Hotel Volksschule cordially welcomes its guests to a modern ambiance. It is 4.8 km from the property to Hamburg’s Old Town and the harbor area, and the famous Reeperbahn Street in the district of St Pauli can be reached with a 30-minute ride on public transportation.Hotel Volkschule is a quarter mile from Rauhes Haus U-Bahn (subway) Train Station, and it is 4 km to Hamburg Train Station. It is a 5-minute drive to the A24 highway, and free private parking is available at the hotel.

Strange Experience
Stayed in June before a flight from Hamburg airport. There are better located hotels in Hamburg for the airport, but thought I’d try this one.
Initially, very disappointed with staff on reception. Bald guy shoved a check in form at me and pointed at it.
Rooms are really clean and nice enough, but have an odd smell. WiFi is terrible. Bar area is comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Free parking is a real bonus in Hamburg.

Sehr sauber, schick, viel Liebe zum Detail mit Anlehnung an die schulische Vergangenheit des Ortes, nettes Personal. Sehr ruhige Lage. Mit dem Auto ist man in 15 Minuten in der Innenstadt. Leckeres Frühstück, auch als Veganer:in wird man satt. Kommen gerne wieder!

A fantastic hotel as your base for exploring Hamburg
We stayed for 4 nights in this beautifully restored and converted school building (with a car park for those driving). We travelled from Hamburg Flughafen using the S1 train line, changing at Berliner Tor onto the U2 line and then 3 stops to Rauhes Haus (direction of Mümmelmannberg) - about 35 mins in total. Very simple. The neighbourhood is a quiet residential area with a supermarket across the road. The U-Bahn station (Rauhes Haus) is a 4 minute walk, and a very quick and efficient ride into the city centre - do not let this distance put you off, it really is very easy and fast.

We received a complimentary upgrade on check-in which was lovely . The room was a good size, gorgeous shower room, high ceilings, a safe, large TV, mini fridge and comfortable bed. The rooms are quiet, sound proofed - our room was directly across from the breakfast room and the doors were so thick we never heard a thing! Room suggestion: a mirror over desk area would be helpful. The room does not have air-con, and even though this is usually an essential for us, we were provided with an electric fan, and as we visited in April/May (although it was exceptionally warm weather) it didn't affect my Tripadvisor rating!
Breakfast was from 7-11am each morning, with a very good selection of hot food (scrambled/boiled eggs, sausages, beans, bacon), cereals, juices, bread, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, tea/coffee etc. All very good and replenished constantly.
The lounge/bar area and outside area was relaxing and stylish. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. Not many dining options in the neighbourhood, but the tube is so close and efficient that going to a nearby area was no problem at all. Absolutely recommend this hotel as your base for exploring Hamburg.

Hotel mit Charm und liebe zum Detail
Wir waren sehr angenehm überrascht. Tolles Hotel und ein sehr nettes, hilfsbereites und aufmerksames Team. Eine Volksschule, umgebaut zum Hotel, mit vielen, sehr schönen Einblicken aus der ehemaligen Schulzeit. Es lohnt sich überall (in jeder Etage) mal zu stöbern und zu staunen. U-Bahnstation in der Nähe, fußläufig zu erreichen. Lidl und Penny in der Nähe.
Im Hotel gibt es ein reichhaltiges Frühstücksangebot. Alles frisch und sehr ansprechen d präsentiert. Und fehlt mal was, dann hilft das Team sehr gerne weiter. Im Aussenbereich kann man sehr schön sitzen, auch am Abend in nettem Ambiente. Wir haben sogar unkompliziert 2 mal verlängert, weil es uns dort so gut gefallen hat. Mit dem Deutschlandticket kann man mit der Bahn und den Fähren am Hafen fahren.
Bei großen Veranstaltungen in Hamburg direkt in der City oder den Landungsbrücken für viel Geld zu buchen kann jeder.
Aber man möchte doch auch viel sehen und gucken, was Hamburg noch so zu bieten hat. Das Hotel und das Team überzeugt mit viel Liebe zum Detail.
Wie wurde uns schon in der Kindheit immer gesagt? "Wie man kommt gegangen, so wird man auch empfangen". 😉

Hotel mit Schulflair, aber anonsten nichts besonderes
Das Hotel lebt vom Flair der alten Volkschule, der verlangte Preis (in meinem Fall 324,00 € für zwei Nächte) wird allerdings durch die Qualität nicht gerechtfertigt. Das Zimmer war für diese Preisklasse recht klein, Fön defekt, recht dunkel, keine kleine Kaffeemaschine auf dem Zimmer. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück umfangreich, qualitativ aber nichts besonderes, besonders das Rührei könnte einen Qualitätsschub vertragen. Ich komme häufig nach Hamburg und bin diesmal meinem Stammhotel, einem Privathotel in Harburg aus Neugier untreu geworden, was ich bereue, zumal es teurer war.

Wohlfühl Ambiente. Ich zu überbieten.
Es macht so viel Spaß die liebevoll zusammengestellte Einrichtung zu entdecken. Einrichtung und Betten sehr gut. Frühstück sehr gut. Aufmerksames Personal. Gern wieder ! Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. Man wird sofort in die Schulzeit zurück versetzt, auf eine stylische Weise

Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen!
Wir hatten im Januar 2024 zwei Doppelzimmer, (Paar plus erwachsenes Kind):

So viel Liebe zum Detail! Wirklich schön, was aus einer alten Schule gemacht wurde! Wunderbares Ambiente und klasse Personal!

Durch eine Schranke kommt man auf den Hotel-Parkplatz, der im Preis inbegriffen ist!
Zwischen Parkplatz und Hoteleingang stehen ein paar Stühle und Tische, ähnlich einem kleinen Biergarten, so dass man draußen z.B. entspannt eine Zigarette rauchen kann und nicht in irgendeiner düsteren Ecke sitzt. Im gesamten Hotel findet man die Backsteinmauern, die es in Kombi mit schicken Lampen etc., sehr schick und urig machen. Die Betten sind bequem, die Fenster kann man dank guter Vorhänge sehr gut abdunkeln.
Im gemütlichen Frühstücksraum wird ein reichhaltiges Buffet angeboten. Es fehlte uns an nichts. Sogar unterschiedliche Kaffeearten wie z.B. Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato etc. gibt der Automat her. Die Musikuntermalung während des Frühstücks war mit einer entspannten Loungemusik gut gewählt. Wunderbar!

Und ALLES war pikobello sauber!!!!

Buona sistemazione per visitare Amburgo
L'albergo si trova in una posizione comoda per i mezzi, sia per il centro , sia per l'aeroporto. La posizione non è centralissima ma il centro si raggiunge in fretta con la metro. Accanto all'albergo ci sono alcuni supermercati e poco altro. La struttura era una scuola, carina all'interno e stanze abbastanza confortevoli. Il buffet della colazione è ottimo, un po' più ricco sul salato, come tutti gli alberghi del nord, ma soddisfacente anche nel dolce e in generale tutto fresco e molto buono. Prezzo nella media di Amburgo, quindi 150 euro a notte in due

Sorpresa
Bellissima la struttura, che era una vecchia scuola. Tanti begli oggetti di arredo. Colazione abbondante e completa. Personale gentile e disponibile. Parcheggio privato gratuito. La posizione è un po' fuori, ma con la uban linea 2, che è a 200 metri, si arriva in 10 minuti nella jungfernstieg.

Very good value for the money. Lovely rooms with Charakter. Stayed herein for to Nights and would choose it again in we need a hotel in Hamburg. Transport To the Center is Quick and easy. Another think I live is that the breakfast Ende at 11 so we could sleep a litten longer

Lovely choice for a hotel in Hamburg! Not in city center but convenient. Excellent service.
Loved this hotel. Really nicely re-purposed school building with stylish and comfortable rooms and accommodations. A bit out of the center area in Hamburg but it's easy to get there by public transport and the neighborhood is quite nice. Even had free parking which was a nice surprise.

Staff was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast at the hotel is AWESOME! Probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in a long time. So many choices and super high quality foods. It's worth staying there for the breakfast alone!

This hotel is a great choice and I'd definitely like to stay there again!

Hotel con stile!
L’hotel é davvero molto stiloso! Una scuola completamente ristrutturata è diventata un bellissimo hotel moderno. Nei corridoi e nella sala delle colazioni si trovano oggetti che richiamano il vecchio uso dell’edificio. La nostra stanza era al 2 piano, bella spaziosa e luminosa, pulita e dotata di tutto il necessario. Colazione varia e abbondante, il personale cordiale e molto gentile. Le ragazze della reception molto molto gentili!

Great an evocative hotel, but turn up the heat, please!
This hotel has so much charme and stands out from other hotels due to it being a school once. The decor inside is full of old school stuff which is used in a fun and decorative way. The halls, the stairways and the breakfastroom are really spacious and so are the rooms. Everything is clean and nice and the beds are very comfortable. Only complaint is that it is really cold everywhere in the hotel maybe due to the age of the building and the large spaces. We were freezing every morning at breakfast. A recommendation from us would also be to put up som outdoor lights on the back of the building facing the supermarket. Aproching the hotel from this side it looks more like an officebuilding after hours. It would be nice to be welcomed by lights instead.

En banlieue de Hambourg, nous sommes tombés de nuit sur cette hôtel qui n'est pas vraiment mis en valeur car un peu caché par une entrée discrète derrière un autre hotel. Mais attention, à l'intérieur, cette ancienne ecole primaire de 1888 est juste à tomber. La deco un un melange de vintage retro moderne tout en respectant le bâtiment d'origine. Les chambres sont hypers conforts et je ne parle pas du déjeuner. Le buffet est était immense avec un choix de fou. Et pour finir, le rapport qualité prix. Impossible d'avoir la même chose en france en banlieue dune très grande ville. Au mieux, vous aurez un mauvais ibis .

Hôtel très confortable !
L'hôtel est très propre, moderne et confortable. Il est à 5 minutes à pieds d'une station de métro qui rejoint le centre ville en 10 minutes. Les chambres sont spacieuses et les salles de bains très belles. Le petit déjeuner est gargantuesque et servi jusque 11h,un vrai plus. Un hôtel à recommander !

Bella vacanza a Amburgo
Hotel nuovo e molto confortevole, vicino alla metro che ti porta in centro in 5 minuti, staff super cordiale (Maria E.) nonostante non parlano italiano,cercano in tutti i modi e in tutte lingue di darti spiegazioni utili x la città e non. Camera moderna e spaziosa con un bellissimo super bagno.
Ottima colazione, l'unica pecca (FORSE) manca il ristorante!!

Un ottimo restauro
L’hotel si trova in una ex grande scuola.
Il lavoro di recupero è stato fatto con grande attenzione e con scelte di design molto curate.
I locali hanno soffitti altissimi, resi meno vuoti da enormi lampadari molto belli.
Tutti i materiali (arredi, piastrelle...) sono curati e contribuiscono a dare un’atmosfera molto particolare. Nel locale colazione vi sono strumenti di geometria alle pareti, tomi del vocabolario enciclopedico...; l’orologio al posto dei numeri ha formule matematiche che per risultato danno l’orario.
L’hotel ha un parcheggio gratuito (si entra e esce con la tessera magnetica della stanza, tranne l’ultimo giorno, in cui serve un gettone).
La colazione è la più ricca che abbiamo trovato in questo viaggio (dolci, salumi, formaggi, salmone, uova ecc)
Alla reception sono gentili ma un po’ stringati e sbrigativi
La metropolitana per raggiungere il centro è molto comoda.
Non ho dato 5 stelle per una pulizia un po’ sommaria della camera, migliorabile.

Hotel moderno
Buena elección para alojarse en Hamburgo, a pesar de encontrarse alejado tiene muy cerca dos estaciones de metro y buses que pasan por la puerta. Estacionamiento en el mismo predio gratuito. Se llega rápido al centro con el metro. Se trata de un colegio refaccionado muy bien y con habitaciones bien acondicionadas y algo pequeña la nuestra. Calefacción no falta. Buen desayuno.

Gran eleccion
El hotel se encuentra en una zona residencial pero con dos líneas de subte a pocos metros lo que permite llegar a todas las atracciones de Hamburgo en pocos minutos. Es un edificio de un viejo colegio que ha sido totalmente renovado. La remodelación es perfecta. Han logrado mantener el exterior del viejo edificio lo que le da gran personalidad pero en el interior es un edificio moderno, confortable con espacios comunes muy agradables y amplias y acogedoras habitaciones. Sirven un desayuno buffet muy completo y variado. Se puede estacionar dentro del predio del hotel sin costo adicional.

Excellent hôtel
Je confirme les bons avis précédents. Hotel au calme idéalement situé pour visiter Hambourg avec de bons conseils délivrés à l'accueil (en particulier la croisière sur l'Elbe pour le prix d'un ticket de métro), parking gratuit, très bon petit déjeuner, petites attentions qui agrémentent le séjour (bouteille d'eau, café, ...)

Le charme d'un bâtiment reconverti, avec tout le confort souhaitable !
C'est devenu notre point de chute à Hambourg ! Découvert par hasard, on est tout de suite tombé sous le charme. Et nous n'avons jamais été déçu ! Cet hôtel a vraiment un style à part. Simple et élégant. Une vraie attention a été apporté au design et c'est un sans faute. La literie est très confortable, les chambres spacieuses. L'endroit est très calme. Et pour finir: le petit déjeuner est absolument remarquable: un très grand choix allant du sucré au salé, tout de très bonne qualité et savoureux. L'accès est très commode depuis l'autoroute et l'hôtel est à deux pas du métro desservant le centre ville en quelques stations.

Nous reviendrons.
Ancienne école reconvertie en 2013 en hôtel, le bâtiment à beaucoup de charme et offre de nombreuses chambres et un parking.
L'hôtel est très bien situé, à quelques pas d'une station de métro et RER, dont l'un mène à la gare,mais en retrait de l'artère principale,de sorte qu'on n'en entend pas le bruit, de plus, les chambres sont bien insonorisées. Elles sont très grandes,la décoration en est moderne.Elle dispose de rideaux obscurcissants , d'un bureau et d'un petit frigo.Excellente literie.
La salle de bain est fabuleuse, immense, design,et,chose RARE,100* adaptée au HANDICAP.
Propreté irréprochable.
Buffet petit déjeuner roche et appétissant dans grande salle façon cafétéria.
Seul ennui****la connexion WiFi****,malaisée et capricieuse.

Apuesta segura
Posiblemente cuando nos pongamos a buscar un hotel en Hamburgo no contemplemos el hotel Volksschule como una de las primeras opciones, debido a que se encuentra un poco alejado del centro. Sin embargo, creo que ésta no debe ser una razón para no elegirlo, ya que tiene una parada de metro a unos 150 metros.
Por lo demás, prácticamente todo en el hotel me ha parecido positivo: la zona es tranquila, el personal de recepción se preocupa de informarte de todo lo que necesites saber sobre la ciudad; el edificio del hotel es un antiguo colegio recientemente reformado, con habitaciones amplias, de paredes altas, camas cómodas, decoración agradable y duchas con caudal abundante. Sólo dos detalles negativos: el hotel no tiene aire acondicionado y el detalle de las dos botellas de agua que tienes gratis el primer día no se repetirá una vez las hayas consumido (nunca entenderé la razón de que los hoteles traten mejor a clientes de una sola noche que a los que lo utilizan durante varias). El desayuno es muy bueno, tiene aparcamiento gratis y la conexión wifi funciona realmente bien.

Hotel moderno con habitaciones muy bien diseñadas y atención excelente
Pasamos cuatro noches en este hotel y me gustó el diseño del hotel en general y de las habitaciones, cómodas y con una ducha excelente. El desayuno es magnífico, no falta nada y los productos son de excelente calidad. Incluso el aceite de oliva español es estupendo. La ubicación es muy buena aunque no está en el centro, el metro está a dos minutos y en 10 minutos se llega al centro. Volveré.
Es cierto que se echa de menos el aire acondicionado en los días de calor.

No tiene aire acondicionado
La falta de aire acondicionado no parece un problema hasta que llegas y te encuentras varios días consecutivos con 28 grados. Al final dejábamos la ventana abierta para que refrescase. El hotel se encuentra a 4km del centro más o menos, pero tiene una parada de metro bastante cerca. En algún hotel de la ciudad te dan tarjeta de transporte, este no es el caso y sería un buen detalle ya que el precio considero que es elevado.
Todo el hotel está muy nuevo. Tranquilo. Sin ruídos. Nuestra habitación estaba frente a la sala de desayunos y no nos molestó en absoluto. Los alemanes son menos ruidosos que los españoles. Las toallas deberían ser mejores. La limpieza era buenísima. La cama cómoda.
Un par de aguas gratis te dan la bienvenida pero calientes. Deberían estar en la nevera. En recepción deberían facilitar un plano de la ciudad en donde salga el hotel y deberían explicar cosas que visitar. Un poco secos. El parking gratis delante del hotel es un plus para los que viajen en coche.
Wifi bueno y desayuno bueno en un comedor agradable.
