Truly stunning location and brilliant for a couples city break base
Wow a brilliant place to explore a new favourite city of ours
We turned up at around lunchtime Friday after an early flight and were delighted that despite asking to just dump our bags we were able to access the room. That shower and a complimentary mini bar helped us refresh to a high level and get back into the city.
The Prager Platz itself was this beautifully quaint plaza of restaurants and shops with tranquility and warm welcoming neighbours. A shout out to the Vietnamese and Grand Piazza opposite for two fab meals.
With the room so welcoming - breakfast was just as inviting with exceptional range of great produce and the timings perfect to get ready for a day of exploration. The bar in the evening offers a comfortable and warm environment for a night cap
I really would love to compliment the excellent check in process more but sadly didn’t capture his name. Please thank who checked in 410 on 4/10/24 with the pronounced curly hair!
Location - we adored it. We actually loved the fact we were close to two metro stations with a 20 odd minute ride to the city. Much prefer being away from the touristy honey traps and feel part of a quintessential Berlin neighbourhood.

Theft, gaslighting and lies
I stayed at the Hyperion Hotel in May 2024 and had my touring bicycle stolen from the rear garden of the hotel. As an experienced cycling tourist through Asia, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe, I understand the importance of good bike security. I locked my bicycle in the rear garden of the hotel on advice from reception staff at check-in that it was a secure location because the gates to the area were locked at night.
The following morning, after discovering and reporting my bike stolen, I was, to my horror, told by reception staff that the gates were never locked and the area was always open to the public. Then I received conflicting advice from staff about the security of alternative locations available to lock-up bicycles. One said the associated car-park was not safe while another suggested the car park was safe as other cyclists parked their bikes there.
From that moment on, every time I spoke to a staff member about the incident, I was told ‘the gates are never locked at night.’ It felt like an orchestrated attempt at gaslighting – that is, to make me doubt my own experience.
The final straw came when the Hotel’s insurance company (AXA Versicherung AG) denied my insurance claim on advice from the Hyperion Hotel Management that I had been ‘informed that the public bicycle parking spaces are not guarded.’ It is perhaps this lie that disturbs me the most.
Hotel management have not provided me with any details of their investigation into the incident and they have refused to admit that I could have been misinformed on check-in. I wonder at the staff culture at this and other H-Hotels. Perhaps staff at this hotel felt too scared to admit to a mistake or perhaps management have no compunction about lying.
I have spent months navigating the Hyperion’s formal claim process in good faith only to be treated with contempt.
Good luck if you decide to stay here, I’m warning my family and friends against it.
