As part of the water restriction measures linked to drought in some of our departments, please note that the rental swimming pool may be closed by prefectural decree. Residence "Les Argonautes", 7 storeys. In the district of La Grande Plage, 50 m from the sea, 2.5 km from the lake, 50 m from the beach, direct access to the beach. For shared use: swimming pool angular (25 x 11 m, depth 150 - 220 cm, seasonal availability: 01.Jun. - 30.Sep.). In the complex: lift. Parking. Shop, grocery 80 m, supermarket 5 km, shopping centre, restaurant, bar, bakery, café 80 m, pedestrian zone 50 m, bicycle rental 80 m, bus stop "Lydia" 100 m, railway station "Perpignan" 22 km, sandy beach 50 m, diving center 5 km, outdoor swimming pool 7 km, nudist beach 10 km. Sports harbour 7 km, surf school 2 km, sailing school 3 km, tennis 3 km, indoor tennis centre 3 km, minigolf 2.5 km, riding stable 12 km. Déception et incompréhension
En vacances juste à côté pour une semaine, dommage de trouver fermé. Pourquoi ne le précisez vous nulle part ? Qu'appellez vous en saison ? Juillet août Noël ?? Triste station peut être invivable 2 mois. Mais je ne viendrai pas tester.

Impressed and Disappointed
While the ship was very impressive from the outside (although, could use some painting), it was disappointing that the ship was closed to any access onboard. Welding and repair work was also being down on the outside of the ship . Websites that we reviewed all stated that the ship was open -however, they were not correct. Many miles travelled to see this historic ship and we were disappointed that we did not have any access.

ON ARRIVE PRÈS DU BATEAU POUR LA VISITE ET LA ON NOUS DIT QUE C'EST FERMÉ, ALORS QUE SUR LE SITE C'EST MARQUÉ OUVERT !!!!
JE NE RECOMMANDE PAS CE LIEU ON C'EST FAIT AGRESSÉ PAR UN TARÉ QUI PROMENER SON CHIEN ET QUI NOUS A MENACÉ DE NOUS TABASSER ET M'A TRAITÉ DE TOUT LES NOMS....
QUELLE TRISTESSE.... SURTOUT À CETTE PÉRIODE OÙ TOUT EST FERMÉ ET PAS ÂME QUI VIVE....

Estància en apartamento delante del mar.
Pequeño, però con todo para unos dias, una família de 4 miembros.

Magnifique
Decoré comme l'arche de noé au milieu du marché de noel de Barcares, il est magnifiquement bien decoré.Empruntez les escaliers sans hesiter pour pouvoir profiter du panoramique qu'offre la hauteur du paquebot.
Une plage magnifique de notre pays catalan d'un cote et un village de noel aux sapins enneigés, chalets en bois aux odeurs de grillades et de tartiflettes , de l'autre cote , un regal des yeux

Sans intérêt
Tout est vieux et sans intérêt
La plage n'est pas non plus très attractive
5 minutes en passant pour prendre une photo ou deux. Je poste la seule chose sympa à voir

Comment occuper une heure de temps
Pas grand chose à voir. L'association des amis du Lydia est extrêmement accueillante et souriante. Merci à elle

Súper!
Súper chulo, impresiona ahí varado en la arena, llegamos y había niebla, entre el buque y la noria...parecia un cuento.
Construido en 1930 en Copenhague.
En 1966 este transatlantico se vacía, y es arrastrado en lastre hasta el puerto artificial excavado especialmente para la ocasión, Port-Barcarès

Curiosa e inesperada visita del interior
Es curioso visitar un barco que en su día debió ser un crucero. Permite dejar volar la imaginación de cómo viajaban. Hemos estado en Navidad, la decoración con animales resulta extraña. En cambio, ubicar los puestos de artesanía todo un acierto

No vayáis... Miles de árboles mueren cada año 😔
Es un cementerio de arbolitos... Miles de ellos sólo para decorar un pueblo costero como si fuera una montaña, increíble pero cierto, me arrepiento de haberles visitado. Las tiendas y puestos carisimos y nada artesanal, fatal.

Nice ship, but closed
Le Lydia is a ship, which is located at the beginning of Allée des Arts, in Port-Barcares, a coastal and Mediterranean town in Occitanie Region, in the South of France. It is a nice ship, which pitifully we only can see from outside, because it was closed, when we arrived here (at the end of June). Bad luck.

Jetty or a Street.
The vessel that messes with your mind.
Is it moored on a jetty or on a street? is it a building or a ship?, Either way its impressive and dominates the skyline from the local beaches,
A Local waiter told me how it got washed up in a violent storm, with survivors being rescued by the locals, Attempts were made to refloat the vessel but to no avail, so it was abandoned in its present location.
Sadly I had read that the “Moonta” had seen service in Australia before Greek ownership brought her back to southern France and renamed her Lydia. Her present location was constructed to accommodate the vessel which was stripped of her engines, filled with ballast and brought ashore.
I prefer the local tales, and delighted in just touching this piece of History.

Not as derelict and unloved as when we last saw her
Whilst the Le Lydia is open every day from 15 August to 1 September, on the day we visited it was booked for a private party, so all we could see was the Tourist Information Office that is housed inside the ship. Since our last visit a lot of work has been done and the ship has been repainted (I think I preferred the white livery).

The beached ship is certainly a sight worth seeing, but probably not worth going too far out of ones way to see it.

Außergewöhnliches Ausflugsziel
Schönes Ausflugsziel um am Strand spazieren zu gehen. Leider war das Schiff in der Nebensaison geschlossen. Unsere Kinder hatten trotzdem ihren Spaß.

The only remarkable sight in an unremarkable resort
We drove through Le Barcarès looking for Le Lydia. Coming from the south, Le Barcarès consists of a depressing strip of bad or indifferent modern architecture - soulless and unimaginative low rise and apartment blocks put up by cynical developers over the past forty years, I'd guess. At the very northern end of this brash defilement of the coastline, we found the beached ship, along with a mish-mash of uninspired modern sculptural installations along an 'Allee des Arts'.
Briefly interesting and quite dramatic from certain angles, the landlocked Lydia - a 1930s passenger ferry built for an Australia shipping company, sold on to a Greek line in the 1950s, and finally embedded in the foreshore at Le Barcarès in the 1960s.
We visited in early September - fin de saison in French terms. The boat was shut, the gangways locked. So it was hard to say if there was anything interesting to see on board. But it looked as if there might not be. It just sat there, like a beached whale or a slightly surreal film set.

Le Lydia hat sicher schön bessere Tage gesehen. Casino und sonstige Lustbarkeiten sind seit Längerem geschlossen. Man kann nur das leere Schiff besichtigen, dafür ist de Eintritt zu teuer.

Magica Lydia
E' una bella nave ormeggiata nei pressi della Grande Plage e conferisce fascino alla zona. Quando a causa dell'escursione termica fra lago e mare si formano le nebbie estive, sembra uscire da una nuvola.
