PLAZA INN Recklinghausen

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while we visited the area. It is located in a dubious area of Recklinghausen and to be honest wasn't sure if I was heading in the right place but then we saw the "Plaza Inn" insignia. There is one building which I take it to be what was originally the hotel/restaurant and a building at the back which is completely new. This is where we stayed.
Rooms are stylishly decorated with an comfortable seating area by the window, another by the desk and instant coffee.

Schönes und modernes Haus.
Die Zimmer ist sehr sauber und auch das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Lediglich die Heizung bzw Klimaanlage nervt etwas.
Diese konnte über Nacht nicht komplett ausgeschaltet werden. So war immer ein leichtes Rauschen zu hören.
Frühstückbuffet ist nicht riesig, dafür aber sehr gut.
Ich komme gerne wieder.

This hotel is where family of patients of Elizabeth Krankenhaus can stay at pretendously promotional rates. We paid 94 EUR per night for single occupancy of a double and 98 for 2. The rates advertised on b**king or h*tels.com are 20% lower, we wish we had checked during the stay. Not nice.

The 19th century building was being renovated during our stay so no lounge for the duration as the modern building has none.

Breakfast buffet menu never changed in one month. It is well appointed (continental + english) but no item changed over one month. Variety is the spice of life.

Our twin room was modern but without USB sockets and closet lights that would trigger at any time for no reason. The trigger floor-level lights are also far too sensitive.

Location is good with easy access to bus, station, parks and main street (but this is Recklinghausen-South, 7km from the city center, and an ethnic neighbourhood).

Otherwise bed, TV, utility, closets were in order and spacious. Also bathroom.
Staff is helpful, german-style. But the cleaning is not done every other day as advertised, it is haphazard if you don't ask for it.
So all in all not super happy with accomodation during renovation summer.

I stayed here for a week and found the hotel to be quite acceptable in nearly all regards. My room was small but that is not unusual in Europe particularly in the older style hotels, but it was clean and tidy. They lacked a room safe which wasn’t great. They did have a small refrigerator but it barely got cold. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating in every regard with most of them speaking good English. My only significant complaint was I had paid for the breakfast buffet and for the first few mornings it was great. Nice variety and generally fresh. However on the last few mornings they did not restock the buffet very well and even by 7:30 am there were several items emptied and not refilled. Other than this I was happy with most aspects of this hotel.

Sehr angenehmes und sauberes Hotel mit freundlichen Personal und Service. Es ist 300 m vom Bahnhof Recklinghausen-Süd gelegen und barrierefrei.

Es gibt einen eigenen Parkplatz. Das Frühstück ist üppig und reichhaltig. Die Zimmer sind standardmäßig ausgestattet.
